Youth Employment Program

The Bennett Farm provides an anchor for youth and adult job-training opportunities. We have a summer Youth Employment Program with an average of 10 youth employees, most of whom live in Chester. For many of the youth, this is their first job experience, and many youth return for 3 or 4 seasons.

In addition to the hands-on gardening knowledge they gain, youth also learn soft skills such as punctuality, professionalism, leadership and team-building. They assist with the twice-monthly produce distributions by harvesting produce, packing boxes, and helping clients take food to their cars or nearby homes.

We also now have some program graduates helping support the farm as young adults in various ways, including as mentors for the youth programming.
